BLUECREST COLLEGE LAUNCHES STUDENTS’ PARLIAMENT

Written by

The Department of Mass Communication and Journalism at BlueCrest University College, Accra, has initiated a student-centred capacity building programme aimed at equipping young communication professionals with the skills in public speaking.

The programme, christened, the Blue Hub Parliament, is a platform where students will engage key stakeholders in a dialogue on critical issues of development including education, business, information communication technology, sports and entertainment

The Head of Department of Mass Communication and Journalism of the College, Mr. Philip Acquaye, who is also the convener, observed that the initiative will afford students the opportunity to add their voices to issues of national discourse and at the same time build their confidence in public speaking.

‘’Activities of this nature will provide the platform for students to speak boldly in public and contribute meaningfully to national discourse. Out of such activities, students identify their inborn strength and are able to properly define their career path’’, he noted.

Speaking on the initiative, Emmanuel kotoka, a first year student of the college expressed his excitement about the programme highlighting the benefit it will serve for students to enhance their skills and boost their confidence in public speaking.

‘’Such programmes will help us as students to nurture our talents as communicators and also equip us with the skills and knowledge to contribute to ongoing national debates. It is also a fine opportunity for us to put to practice what we learn in the classroom’’, he stated.

The maiden edition of the programme will be held on Friday, April 29, 2022 at the premises of the institution and will be attended by key personalities including Dr. Sujith Jayaprakash, Rector of the BlueCrest College, Mr. Eric Hanson, Registrar of the College, Heads of the various departments in the college, invited guests and students.
