BlueCrest College, in partnership with the Ghana Domain Name Registry (GDNR), marked a significant milestone on April 29, 2024, by hosting the first-ever domain name server (DNS) training session for 2024 tailored for tertiary institutions. The event, held at BlueCrest College’s premises, served as a comprehensive educational platform aimed at equipping information technology students with essential skills in DNS management and related fields.

Led by a dedicated team from the Ghana Domain Name Registry, the training covered a spectrum of topics crucial to understanding DNS infrastructure. Students were guided through foundational concepts such as DNS basics, DNS query and response mechanisms, and the vital aspect of DNS security (DNSSEC). Additionally, participants had the opportunity for hands-on experience through practical DNS configuration exercises, reinforcing theoretical knowledge with real-world application.

The initiative underscores the commitment of both BlueCrest College and the Ghana Domain Name Registry to foster capacity building and enhance the readiness of students for careers in DNS administration and related disciplines. By providing access to specialized training in DNS management, the collaboration aims to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry demands, ensuring that graduates possess the skills necessary to thrive in a dynamic technological landscape.

The event witnessed the esteemed presence of key dignitaries, including the Executive Director of the Ghana Domain Name Registry, the CEO of BlueCrest College, and the Director General of the Ghana Meteorological Agency, underscoring the significance of the occasion and the collective effort towards advancing educational initiatives in technology-related fields.
