Every year, the world sets aside the month of October to create awareness in the dangers of breast cancer.
Breast cancer is a disease in which malignant (cancer) cells form in the tissues of the breast. The cause of breast cancer is not known but there are several ways to detect early to save lives.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), Breast cancer is the most frequent cancer among women, impacting 2.1 million women each year, and also causes the greatest number of cancer-related deaths among women. In 2018, it is estimated that 627,000 women died from breast cancer – that is approximately 15% of all cancer deaths among women. While breast cancer rates are higher among women in more developed regions, rates are increasing in nearly every region globally.
It has become very critical to constantly educate people on the risks and dangers in breast cancer. The School of Fashion and Design (SFD) is mainly populated by strong and vibrant women who have bright futures and aspire to be the best version of themselves.
Everyone at SFD is committed to helping in the fight against breast cancer. It is important that as women, we use any of the two early detection strategies in making sure this is caught early to improve the cancer outcome and survival rates.

Lets all endeavor to do this regularly and share our knowledge acquired with others to improve on our lives. We all have a role to play.
Note: Men are not excluded. Men can also get breast cancer too.
