It is said that being professional is to believe passionately in what you do, and never knowingly compromise your standards and values. More so, a professional is someone who can do his best work when he doesn’t feel like it.” For this course, the faculties of SFD have taken the initiative to work professionally by sewing labcoats to be used during their practical sessions. The labcoats were outdoored during the launching of SFD’s two clubs on the 28th of May 2021. This is to set the pace for all SFD students to start using labcoats in the department. Every job has its professional uniform hence,
Fashion Design as a profession is not left out. To keep safe in a lab, it is essential for the fashion designer to wear the right attire during sewing to limit hazards. These include labcoats (to avoid oil from staining the main garment as well as carrying pieces of threads and yarns).A nose mask (to prevent lint or tiny pieces of fabric dust from entering the nostrils and a spectacle to block broken pieces of needles from entering the eyes during stitching. It is for this cause, that the department has introduced the right way of dressing up when working in the labs.SFD faculties will help its students to stitch these lab coats and start wearing them by the next semester. This also is part of the rebranding processes of the department. We hope that this new development will be embraced to build a better SFD both physically and mentally. Ayekoo to all SFD Faculties.
Fashion is life, live it!!!!
