Professional course in garment construction(PCGC) students of the Bluecrest College School of Fashion and Design, after eight days of training, are now able to construct various kinds of skirts including panels and mermaids.
According to their Garment and Construction lecturer, Miss Matilda Tawiah, popularly known as Miss, the students who enrolled with no basic knowledge on how to thread the sewing machine let alone construct a seam, can now draft and sew various kinds of skirts.
She added that they were also able to transfer and translate darts into different designs both in blouses and dresses. Students who enroll unto the course are trained in both pattern and garment construction with modern techniques and resources.
“We are two months through and have four months to go and if they are doing this great work now, it is expected that by the end of the course they would have been able to produce office wear, either skirt suit, dress suit or pant suit and round it up with evening wear”, she said.
Miss Tilly stressed that, when students are passionate about their work, they could acquire great skills and have a job within the shortest possible time.
PCGC is a six months certificate course organised on Saturdays from 9am to 3pm which seeks to train the informal sector to become better in their quest to become professionals in the fashion industry.
