A THROWBACK… GRADUATE FASHION SHOWCASE 2019

The Aviation social center Accra was occupied on the 2nd of  November 2019, with guests from fashion houses, Voltic, Diet coke, Graphic communications group, Quami TV, industry persons, parents, and Lecturers, anxious and awaiting the grand showcase of garment designs from graduating students of the BlueCrest School of Fashion Design. The fashion show was themed “Apasoↄ Kasa” in Twi, meaning the scissors talks.

This biannual show, marked the seventh of its kind as thirty-two final year students from the B.SC, diploma and certificate programs showcased their collections on the runway. The garments ranged from children’s wear (little bride), Gala (bridal gowns), tuxedos, casual wears, lingerie to androgynous clothing. Among some interesting theme names for these collections were, glamour house, black culture, daughters of Jadis, elegance in arrogance, twists, and turns. Royal beggars and animal kingdom.

The fashion department is determined to give students a hands on professional training and skills to enable its students to be sustained on the job market in the fashion industry.

According to the rector of the college, Dr. Anand Agrawal, the purpose of the fashion show was to instill an entrepreneurial spirit into the students, develop their talents, innovative skills as well as their responsiveness and attitude to work, so as to engage themselves in institutional and social needs of the society.

He further mentioned that, BlueCrest College for that matter, school of fashion design, provides quality education to students which is recognised internationally.

The head of Department, Mr Amit Chotrani, added in his speech that, the school of fashion design offers opportunities for students to develop their unique professional skills that will enable them to become experts during their career.

Nonetheless, design and creativity is the hall mark of the department. He also pointed out that, the world is looking forward to African fashion and designers. Hence, BlueCrest is giving its fashion students a training that meets the expected standards internationally to improve and increase exports of fashion products in Ghana and Africa as a whole.
