The Final year students in the School of Fashion and Design (SFD) presented and defended their final project work for 2019/2020 academic year. It was unfortunate that the COVID 19 restricted large gatherings and for this reason, the annual Fashion show was cancelled. Students were sad that the show had to be cancelled but they did well to participate in their numbers for this session. This exercise took place at the Guo Pei fashion studio on campus and saw in attendance five lecturers who formed the jury for the presentation.
Students presented their finished garments together with their inspiration, boards and all other accessories for their project defense. They were expected to acquire an inspiration, develop a mood board, fabric board and swatch board, illustrate their ideas into several garments and design a logo that fits their chosen brand names.
The main focus for organizing this was to give students the opportunity to express themselves through their works and explain their thoughts and creative thinking to the faculty members around. This exercise was meant to boost the confidence of students, give them a platform to practice how to speak and defend their works especially when they have customers. Students were also queried on their finishing which is one of the most important things to consider when you want to build your clientele.
